Job Summary
The State of New Mexico is seeking an experienced IBM Cognos Developer to support an approved Ad Hoc Reporting initiative. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and enhancing ad hoc reports within the Claims and Finance modules and working closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely reporting solutions.
Candidates must have hands-on experience with Health Enterprise (HE) and strong knowledge of healthcare reporting, particularly within Claims and Finance.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, enhance, and maintain ad hoc reports using IBM Cognos.Design reports for Claims and Finance modules based on business and State requirements.Analyze reporting requirements and translate them into effective Cognos solutions.Develop complex queries, reports, and report packages using Cognos Report Studio/Analytics.Work with business users to understand reporting needs, clarify requirements, and deliver appropriate solutions.Validate report results and ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.Troubleshoot reporting issues and modify existing reports as required.Collaborate with technical and functional teams to understand underlying data, business rules, and reporting logic.Perform report testing, validation, and performance optimization.Document report specifications, data sources, business rules, and reporting processes.Support production reporting and resolve issues within the Health Enterprise (HE) environment.Required Skills5+ years of experience with IBM Cognos development.Strong hands-on experience developing ad hoc reports.Experience working with Claims and Finance reporting.Hands-on Health Enterprise (HE) experience is required.Strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.Experience with Cognos Report Studio/Analytics, Framework Manager, packages, queries, and report development.Ability to understand complex healthcare data and business requirements.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with State Medicaid / MMIS / healthcare systems.Knowledge of healthcare claims processing and financial reporting.Experience supporting government or State healthcare programs.
